The technical parameters of the future border checkpoint Strumyani - Berovo have been determined

An expert committee with representatives of Bulgaria and the Republic of North Macedonia adopted the technical parameters for the procurement of the design of the infrastructure of the new border checkpoint Strumyani - Berovo.
The construction of the border checkpoint point will be financed under the Interreg VI-A IPA Bulgaria - North Macedonia 2021-2027 Programme within the “Better Connected Europe through Improved Mobility” objective of the Cohesion Policy for the period 2021-2027.
During the two-day meeting of the committee, the concepts for the development of the technical infrastructure of the point, the functions and location of the main buildings and the applicable legal procedures for design, construction, environmental impact assessment, biodiversity and protected areas, as well as compliance with the established conservation objectives for the protection of the protected area “Kresna - Ilindentsi” of the Natura 2000 network were discussed.
The meeting in Sandanski was hosted by Blagoevgrad Regional Governor Nikolay Shushkov and chaired by the deputy co-chairs of the expert committee - Milen Obretenov, Director of the Directorate for Territorial Cooperation Management at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and Jakup Redzepi, Director of the Directorate for International Law and Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of North Macedonia. Experts from the Managing and National Authorities of the Programme, the Road Infrastructure Agency and the Regional environmental and water inspectorate - Blagoevgrad also participated in the work of the Committee.
