The government endorsed the results of the informal meetings of the European Union ministers responsible for urban policy and territorial cohesion, held by videoconference on 30 November and 1 December.  In both meetings, Ministers unanimously adopted the New Leipzig Charter "The transformative power of cities for the common good" and its implementation document "Through multi-level governance:  Next steps for the EU's Urban Agenda". The Territorial Agenda 2030 "A Future for All Places" was also endorsed, together with the German Presidency Conclusions on Territorial Cohesion, the Territorial Agenda 2030 and launching the implementation process.

The new Leipzig Charter outlines the future implementation of the Post-2020 Urban Agenda including maintaining and strengthening multi-level and multi-stakeholder cooperation, achieving better regulation, better funding and policy coherence, ensuring better knowledge and stronger communication and governance of the Urban Agenda with effective decision-making and support structures.

With the adoption of the Territorial Agenda EU 2030, ministers underlined the importance of strategic spatial planning, providing orientation for its implementation and calling for the strengthening of the territorial dimension of sectoral policies at all levels of government.  The aim of the Territorial Agenda EU 2030 is to promote an inclusive and sustainable future for all places and to help achieve the goals for sustainable development in Europe.
