The Regional Development and Public Works Minister Valentin Cerovski has today granted licenses to the first 14 consultants in accordance with the Spatial Development Act. I am glad that I am responsible for a ministry which has had the courage to make a step in the direction of decentralization and withdrawal of the state from the field of construction, Minister Cerovski said at the ceremony. He underlined that introducing consultants into the field of construction, will help investors and contractors save nerves, time and money. So far 119 companies have filed in applications for obtaining consultant licenses. The committee, which issues consultant licenses, works in an outstanding transparent and loyal manner, and though we had some disputes all decisions were taken by consensus. This was announced by the Chairman of the Bulgarian Association of Architects and Engineer Consultants – Architect Marin Bakalov. Engineer Nikolai Nachev, the Head of NIKSI EOOD – the Company which obtained the first license, also expressed his gratitude to the committee for their successful work. There is a tendency to transfer services from administration to private sector in all European countries, announced the Regional Development and Public Works Deputy Minister Savin Kovachev. Consultants will evaluate the compliance of all projects which are first and second category. This is not compulsory for the other three categories. Consultants will also perform the supervision of construction works and their reports will be the basis for the legal adoption of projects, too. PR and International Relations Directorate
