The payment of the salaries of some of the workers from Oreshkovo will have started by one week, as a result of the decision of the meeting at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works /MRDPW/ between protesting workers and representatives of the governing bodies of the companies-debtors and of the Ministry. The occasion for the meeting was a protest parade of workers in support of the sale of block of flats № 156 in the residential area Druzhba in Sofia, its owner – the holding Metal Constructions. A part of our salaries can be paid up by the money from the sale of that block of flats, announced the workers from Oreshkovo. Тhеy pointed out that the lodgings are in a bad condition, and moreover, only 14 families have the legal right to live there. Following the appropriate intervention of the MRDPW governing body in the conflict situation, the Ministry signaled the public prosecution to examine the legality of the transaction. At the meeting the workers and the representatives of the companies and the Ministry agreed to wait for the decision of the prosecution about the transaction, and then it will be finalized, if there are no legal impediments. Afterwards the holding Metal Constructions will start to discharge its obligations to the workers from Oreshkovo. They have been awaiting to receive their salaries for eight years now. To solve this problem the Regional Development and Public Works Minister Valentin Cerovski set up a special committee, which is chaired by Kalin Rogachev, Head of the Political Cabinet of the Minister. The committee has worked out a special programme to discharge the obligations to the workers. PR & International Relations Directorate
