The European Commission has approved nearly 85 million euros under the cooperation programme “(Interreg VI-C)

The European Commission has approved the cooperation programme “(Interreg VI-C) URBACT IV” in all EU Member States with the participation of Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland and Norway.

EUR 84 769 799 shall be made available under the programme. The funds are for the period 1 January 2021 - 31 December 2027. It is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance under the European Territorial Cooperation (Interreg) objective and co-financed by the Member States.

URBACT is a European exchange and training programme promoting sustainable and integrated urban development. It enables the building and development of networks between European cities to stimulate their cooperation.

The European Instrument has several main objectives: to build capacity to implement and manage urban development policies in an integrated manner involving all stakeholders; to improve the planning, design and implementation of urban strategies, plans and policies for sustainable urban development; to provide knowledge and exchange of experience at expert and managerial level on all aspects of sustainable and integrated urban development.

The main target group of the programme is mayors, city governments and their administration, elected representatives and urban development stakeholders from government departments, the private sector and civil society.
