Regional Development Minister Valentin Tserovski and Dimitris Kourkoulas, Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Bulgaria, broke the ground for the rehabilitation of Road II – 29 from the Bulgarian-Romanian border to General Toshevo. The official ceremony was attended by Deputy Regional Development Minister Petya Gegova, Marian Paveleski, Counselor at the Romanian Embassy in Bulgaria, Dobrich Regional Governor Ivan Ivanov, MPs, representatives of the local authorities and other guests. The project, which is financed under PHARE-Cross-border Cooperation and the national budget, provides for the rehabilitation of an 18-km road section from General Toshevo to the Yovkovo border checkpoint. Its realization will facilitate the transit of trucks in the region. The rehabilitated section will also improve transport links with Romania, leading to the Port of Constanta. The project, which is being implemented by AM – Cherno More – Shoumen, is expected to be completed by September 2004. PR and International Activities Directorate
