Regional Development and Public Works Minister Valentin Tserovski and his deputy Roumen Mitov visited the construction site of a linkup between the Tsonevo Reservoir and the Kamchia water main. The construction is in the land-use area of the Tsonevo Village, Dulgopol Municipality in the District of Varna. “It is a nice surprise that the colleagues are ready for the 72-hour trial run,” said Tserovski. The facility will be used only in the event of short supply of water among the Kitka-Varna water main from Kamchia Reservoir. The project solves a bad problem and Varna and the Black Sea coast will never be threatened by short supply of water. The construction of the linkup is a result of reassessment of the water strategy which the Regional Development and Public Works Ministry is in the process of doing and will propose to the government for approval, said Tserovski. This stage soaked up 2.4 million leva which paid for the construction of a pump station for emergency water supply, a security area, a water in-take system, an incoming pipe, a chlorine station, a transformer station, external power system, landscaping of the site, a water main and sewer, and a connection to Road III-1022 of the national road network. Another 1.1 million will be invested in the second stage for the construction of a water treatment plant for the Village of Asparouhovo, Dulgopol Municipality. The facility is due for launch in September 2003. At the same time the Kitka-Varna main will be overhauled and water supply to the city will not be disturbed, said the CEO of the Varna ViK water company Valentin Vulkanov. The project designer is the Varna ViK water company and contractor the Sofia-based state-owned company Stroitelstvo I Vuzstanovyavane. Public Relations and International Activity Directorate
