On 26 September 2003 the General Administration of Civil Registration and Administrative Services with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works provided all Bulgarians with Web access to the electoral registers for the 2003 Local Elections. The “Web Access to Electoral Registers” service of the General Administration of Civil Registration and Administrative Services is once again accessible at http://www.grao.government.bg/elections. The site has been fully renovated and extended. Citizens will be able to check their personal data in the electoral registers and their polling districts and station through the Internet. Citizens and municipal administrations are also offered an opportunity to apply for voting by present address by electronic means. This service is accessible following identification by electronic signature. It is in line with the adopted Strategy for the Development of an Electronic Government in Bulgaria. Bulgaria’s electronic information system for Civil Registration and Administrative Services keeps regularly updated information on all Bulgarian nationals. The General Administration of Civil Registration and Administrative Services is developing, managing and maintaining this system. Since 1990 the General Administration of Civil Registration and Administrative Services has been publishing all electoral lists.
