On 26.05.2004, Wednesday, the Regional Development and Public Works Minister Mr. Valentin Cerovski will participate in the official ceremony for the start of the rehabilitation of the road Mizia – Оriahovo, which will be held in the town of Mizia at 10 o’clock. The implementation of the project is funded under PHARE – Cross Border Cooperation Bulgaria – Romania. The project Rehabilitation and Partial Reconstruction of Road ІІ-15, section Mizia – Оriahovo (Bulgarian – Romanian border) envisages the repair work of a 16.5 km road, which is the link to the ferryboat Oriahovo – Becket. The increased traffic during the last years entailed its initial re-categorization in a 2nd-grade road, and rehabilitation is currently starting. During the construction the road surface will be strengthened and the technical road characteristics will be improved, which as a result will facilitate the trade links between the two countries and the access to the Bulgarian-Romanian border. After tender procedures were carried out, the Bulgarian consortium Patstroy 92 and Patstroy Engineering – Vratsa was selected as a contractor of the construction works, and the supervision was awarded to the English company Mott McDonald. The contract for construction works is worth 3 125 354, 21 euro, and the supervision contract - 156 000, 000 euro. The contract for execution of the contracts is 34 months, including 15 months – construction works and 12 months – a warranty period. PR & International Relations Directorate
