Minister Gagauzov Examined the Process of the Construction Works on LOT 5 on Tracia Motorway

“It is not economically profitable to release for exploitation separate parts of the Tracia Motorway segment “Karnobat – Bourgas” now in construction. Therefore we will be seeking for a whole part on releasing LOT 5”, said Regional development and public works minister Asen Gagauzov, who inspected today the process of construction works on the site. The building of LOT 5 Karnobat – Bourgas of Tracia Motorway is co-financed by the European Investment Bank and the state budget. The contract for co-finance with EIB was signed in July 2000. The building of the segment Karnobat – Bourgas has been entrusted to the Turkish consortium “Citizen Association Doush - Eco” and the supervision – to Mot McDonald. The construction of the site started in April 2003. The completion deadline is October 2006. The length of the segment in construction is 35,3 km. The total value of the contract for construction is EUR 62,996 mln plus VAT included. The supervision contract is for EUR 3,251 mln plus VAT. Up to the present moment all of the big facilities on the segment Karnobat – Bourgas are finished. The earth and road works on the whole road line are almost completed. Two layers of asphalt-concrete on 25km in both directions of the motorway are finished. Construction of a by-pass road round Karnobat connecting the existing road Sofia – Bourgas with the motorway is at hand. Public Relations and International Activities Directorate
