Minister Andrey Tsekov: We are making a 3-year strategic development plan for roads

I found in the Road Infrastructure Agency non-transparent and expensive procurement of repairs, exceeding 2-3 times the market prices, said the regional minister

“The first step we will take is to write a new strategy for road development in the country and the Road Infrastructure Agency will start working in a planned way. The law and the country’s strategic priorities require us to work with 3-year and 1-year investment programmes.”

This is what the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Andrey Tsekov said in the programme “In Focus with Lora Krumova” on Nova TV.

“There can be no strategies and clear goals that stay locked in small cabinets and at the same time objects that we need are not implemented”, the minister explained and gave as an example the need for connecting road infrastructure between Bulgaria and North Macedonia, Gyueshevo with Dupnitsa, as well as our country with Greece.

“Instead, repairs are being made on road sections that are undoubtedly important, but are not strategically decisive for the development of the republican road network,” Tsekov was adamant.
