INTERREG-IPA CBC Bulgaria – Turkey Programme 2014-2020
INTERREG-IPA CBC Programme Bulgaria – Turkey Programme 2014-2020 is co-financed by the European Union through the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance and by the two partnering countries.
The overall objective of the Programme is to strengthen the Bulgaria-Turkey cross-border cooperation capacity in the field of nature protection and sustainable tourism, leading to enhancement of European territorial cohesion.
The Programme covers the following NUTS III regions or equivalents situated along the border between both partnering countries, namely: Burgas, Yambol and Haskovo districts in Bulgaria as well as Edirne and Kirlareli provinces in Turkey.
The total Programme budget is EUR 29 642 896, of which 85% EU co-financing and 15% national financing from both partnering countries.
The Programme has three priority axes: Environment and Sustainable Tourism (under which investment and “soft measures” projects are financed) and Technical assistance priority axis.
The eligible beneficiaries under the Programme are legal entities established in the eligible cross border region between Bulgaria and Turkey, which are non-profit making organizations (i.e. local/ regional/ national authorities or their subsidiary bodies; national and regional agencies; administrations of protected areas; local /regional forestry administrations; cultural institutions; community centres; NGOs; educational organizations- universities, schools, colleges and libraries; euro regions; associations of two or more of the listed above).
The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works of the Republic of Bulgaria is designated to perform the functions of Managing Authority, and Ministry for European Union Affairs in Turkey is designated to perform the functions of National Authority under the Programme.
