In reference to an invitation for twinning with a Bulgarian municipality, extended from Minister Valentin Cerovski to Mr. Oliver Brooks, a Chairman of the Meath County Council, Ireland, during his visit to the country at the end of November last year, on 22 February 2004, Sunday, a delegation of representatives of the local self-government of the County arrives on an official visit to the Municipality of Sandanski. The establishment of contacts and the development of joint activities between the Bulgarian and the Irish municipality will be an example of an effective cooperation on a regional level within United Europe. That idea also addresses the initiative, which has been recently launched by the European Commission, for twinning of regions and towns of current and future member states of the European Union. Regarding the visit of the Irish Delegation, on 24 February 2004, Tuesday, at 12 o’clock, a press conference will be held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works, at which will be presented the initiative for twinning and the plan for cooperation between the Municipality of Sandanski and the Meath County. Minister Valentin Cerovski, His Excellency Austin Gormley – Charge d’Affairs of the Embassy of Ireland in Bulgaria, representatives of the Meath County Council, Sandanski Mayor Mr. Andon Totev and other guests will be present at the press conference.
