The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and National Coordinator for the Danube Strategy Denitsa Nikolova had received by the Hungarian Ambassador Tekla Harangozo the ruler, which is a symbol of her Presidency. Our country took the office from Hungary in October this year for one-year period. The focus of the meeting between Denitsa Nikolova and Tekla Harangozo was the priorities of Bulgaria for the two Presidencies in 2018 - the Council of the EU and the Danube Strategy.

Deputy Minister Nikolova stressed that our country takes great responsibility because the forthcoming period is extremely important for discussions on key EU topics such as the Multiannual Financial Framework, the European perspective of the Western Balkans, etc. She presented the main areas of competence of the Ministry for the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018, related to territorial cohesion and urban policy, highlighting the importance of a polycentric approach that can lead to balanced regional development and conditions for higher economic growth.

The Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Denitsa Nikolova and the Hungarian Ambassador in Bulgaria Tekla Harangozo agreed that the bilateral political dialogue and the cooperation between Bulgaria and Hungary are on a high level. The Hungarian Ambassador thanked in particular for the great support received in Bulgaria by the Hungarian ultra-sportsman Pal Yucesh-Hidvegi, who made a run on the entire Danube coastline, nearly 3000 km long, to promote the Danube Strategy and the theme of environmental protection.
