Bulgarian road construction companies are confronted by an extremely large challenge – they will have to prove themselves in very serious and crucial competition with the international companies. This statement was made by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Valentin Tserovski in Bourgas at the ceremony for the official launch of construction works on Lot No.8: Sliven-Bourgas of the Program “Transit Roads 3”. Minister Tserovski emphasized that the contractors chosen for two of the four lots of the Program “Transit Roads 3”, which are financed under the ISPA Program, are Bulgarian consortiums. ‘I hope that the Bulgarian companies will manage to prove their capabilities both in terms of the quality of implementation, that they have won, and in terms of competitive prices with which to keep on winning in the subsequent tenders’, was stated by Minister Tserovski. He added that it is important for the companies to understand that not the contradictions and opposition but the consolidation of their capacities will help them to be desirable partners of the foreign companies that enter our market. The Program “Transit Roads 3”, Lots 3, 4, 8 and 9 involves rehabilitation of road segments in the direction of the Pan-European Transportation Corridors No. IV, VIII and IX on the territory of our country, with a total length of about 245 km. The Program is financed with funds under the ISPA Program of the European Union/75%/ and by the state budget /25%/. Lot No.8 includes segments of the first-class road I-6 “Sliven-Bourgas” with a total length of 66.5 km. For the implementation of the construction works a contract has been concluded with the Bulgarian consortium “PANVIA” to the amount of 6,139,283 euro. PR & International Relations Directorate
